Oregon Dunes National Recreational Area extends from Florence to the Coos Bay area and offers miles of beach access, OHV and dune buggy riding areas, fishing, swimming, kite flying, windsurfing, whale watching and hiking (541-271-6000, tinyurl.com/oregon-dunesNRA). Rent an off-road vehicle at Dune Country ATV Rentals (541-271-3443, discoverypointresort.com), Spinreel Dune Buggy and ATV Rental (541.759.3313, ridetheoregondunes.com) or at Steve’s ATV Rentals (541-751-1800, stevesatvrentals.com/home/oregon-dunes). Take an exciting dune buggy ride at Sandland Adventures (541-997-8087, sandland.com) or Sand Dunes Frontier (541-997-3544, sanddunesfrontier.com). Or try sandboarding at Sand Master Park (541-997-6006, sandmasterpark.com). There is also plenty of scenic hiking trails in the Coast Range and on the Pacific Ocean dunes near Reedsport (tinyurl.com/or-coast-hiking).
UMPQUA RIVER AREA
Boating, kayaking, fishing on the Umpqua River (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Umpqua_River) and watch Elk graze in their natural habitat at the Dean Creek Elk Viewing Area (541-756-0100, tinyurl.com/dean-creek).
REEDSPORT/WINCHESTER BAY
Visit the Umpqua River Discovery Center (541-271-4816, umpquadiscoverycenter.com) and the 13,000 sq. ft skateboard riding facility at Lions Park (skateoregon.com/Reedsport/Reedsport.html). Enjoy golfing at Forest Hills Country Club, a nine-hole public golf course and driving range (541-271-2626, golfreedsport.com) and tour Umpqua Lighthouse State Park (541-271-4631, tinyurl.com/ump-lighthouse).
There are several annual Festivals in the Reedsport and Winchester Bay area, including the Annual Oregon Divisional Chainsaw Sculpting Championship in June (oregonccc.com), DuneFest in July (541-271-3495, dunefest.com) and the Old Time Music Jamboree in August (541-759-3419, fiddleonthebeach.info).
FLORENCE
Visit the Historic Old Town and Antique District, and enjoy Nevada-style gaming at Three Rivers Casino (877-374-8377, threeriverscasino.com). There are two public golf courses in the Florence area, Sandpines Golf Links (800-917-4653, sandpinesgolf.com) or Ocean Dunes Golf Links (541-997-3232, threeriverscasino.com/golf). Horseback riding on the beach is available just north of Florence at C & M Stables (541-997-7540, oregonhorsebackriding.com)
COOS BAY/NORTH BEND
The area is home to Nevada-style gaming at Three Rivers Casino (877-374-8377, threeriverscasino.com) and two museums, the Coos Art Museum (541-267-3901, coosart.org) and Coos History Museum (541-756-6320, cooshistory.org).
Two State Parks in the Coos Bay area with great scenery are Shore Acres State Park, including its beautiful gardens (tinyurl.com/shore-acres-state-park) and Cape Arago State Park (tinyurl.com/cape-arago-state-park). ROSEBURG/ELKTON

COTTAGE GROVE
